Accident insurance plans typically pay benefits directly to the insured – as opposed to major medical health plans, which generally send payments to medical providers. And accident insurance policies typically have caps on how much they'll pay, as opposed to ACA-compliant major medical policies that do not have any annual or lifetime limits on how much the plan will pay for an enrollee's care.
