Minneapolis, MN – Healthinsurance.org released a statement today in response to the latest enrollment figures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Nearly 3.4 million Americans have enrolled or renewed their individual market health coverage for 2023 through the health insurance marketplaces since the open enrollment period began Nov. 1. That represents a 17% percent increase compared to last year.
From Louise Norris, health policy analyst for healthinsurance.org:
“It’s great to see early enrollment trending even higher than last year, when a record-high number of people signed up for coverage by the end of the open enrollment window. If you haven’t yet shopped for your 2023 coverage, you might be pleasantly surprised by how affordable your options are.
“The rules have been changed to allow premium subsidies for some people whose employer-sponsored family coverage is unaffordable. And insurer participation has changed for 2023, with new insurers in many areas and some other insurers leaving the market. This makes it especially important for people to actively compare all their options during this open enrollment period.”
Healthinsurance.org provides free, online resources for consumers, including information about individual health insurance, major medical insurance and affordable medical insurance.
